Thinking styles

Making the best use of the analytical and creative parts of the brain.

This one-day workshop looks the different specialisations of our two brain hemispheres. We compare right brain thinking styles to left brain thinking.

Participants learn to recognise their own thinking styles, as well as those of others. We not only learn to respect our differences, but we also gain an insight into how to activate more of our dormant resources to redress the balance.

Luckily we all have different thinking preferences. Some people are more naturally able to think laterally and associatively; others are more logical, focused on details and linear in the way they address their work. When under pressure we can revert too much to our favoured style and we pay a price. Our time management suffers, we become less able to process the big amounts of emails or we become more controlling and less empathetic towards others; obsessed with details and unable to see the bigger picture.

The modern world relies increasingly on image, technology and communications - fields in which right brain thinkers excel. It is also a world of words, processes and mathematics - left brain. How can we create working environments which allow them to employ their talents fully?

What will you learn on this day?

  • To recognise the talents involved in being a creative thinker: sensitivity to patterns, seeing the big picture, thinking in a holistic way, spatial awareness, sharp intuition
  • Discover how these talents relate to the difficulties in reading, writing and auditory processing
  • Practical ways to help right brain thinkers function better in the workplace
  • Tools to enhance focus
  • To recognise the value and limitations of left-brain thinking
  • Explore ways to integrate better the strength of logical and creative thinking

Who for?

Anyone interested in gaining an integral understanding of the different styles of thinking; managers and staff working in human resources or in teams. Organisations wishing to nurture the talents of some their most creative thinkers.
