How do we work?

We are able to effect profound change; from the inside out. Underpinning all our work is the understanding that our intelligence, well-being and performance depend on how well our basic human needs are met. We offer people an insight into their own innate resources and show them how to employ these optimally, thereby setting them on the road to effectiveness through life-long learning and growth. Once these insights are mastered, they can transform the functioning of individuals, teams, companies or society at large.

Understanding emotions

Human Givens differs from existing effective models of training by understanding the central role of emotions in all our behaviour and cognitive functioning.

Changing and enhancing patterns

From a young age we develop patterns of thought and behaviour, and identify these as personal characteristics. Now that we understand about the malleability of the human brain, we can apply effective and fast-working methods to raise self-awareness. This way clients learn to identify and develop positive patterns and modify unhelpful patterns.

Focusing on concrete and achievable goals

By setting clear goals, a key human resource is activated - namely to problem solve. And as achievable and agreed goals are aligned with getting needs met (e.g. for a sense of achievement and control), then all of that person's potential will be closer to being realised.

Transferring resources to the external world

Once we shed limiting response patterns in behaviour or attitude, we learn to gain access to our 'observing self'. From this position, we develop an openness to see things differently, which gives us the opportunity to become more resourceful and creative. Thus a personal transformation through increased self-awareness, gives each individual real choice in how to respond to the emerging future.

We work with the 'whole person' - and so necessarily the approach to each client is tailored and unique.
